FreeDoc® gives you fluid access to unstructured paper records. For records located anywhere across the US, FreeDoc® staff will manage your project from you door-to-our door, nationwide. Since 1999, our process has been developed to perfectly pack, ship and convert whole offices. Once delivered into our record center, your records are accessible within 24-hours as we work.
FreeDoc® uses a 7-step process to Scan, Index, Extract (data), and Load indexed records ready for import into your records management system (RMS), document management system (DMS), or enterprise content management system (ECM). FreeDoc® can provide you a cloud records management system with encryption at rest as part of your project.

History – Process Engineering
From 1995 to 1999, company founders configured document management solutions for the US Fortune 500, the VA-Puget Sound Healthcare, and the 1st US Special Forces Group. System adoption was good, but the quality of the customer’s scanning department varied widely. The weakest point was the ‘indexing’. The work is tedious. It requires meticulous focus and a personal commitment to quality. These projects are done once, so it has to be perfect. The difference then and now was the person, plus the technology.
- 1999 – Microsoft® asked company founders to scan legal and accounting records and to include database indexing using Kofax Capture.
- 2004 – FreeDoc® begins implementing FileBound Cloud. FreeDoc® performs as the customer’s Records Administrator by managing customer records in the cloud site.
- 2007 – FreeDoc® began using a unique interview selection methodology to hire the right people. This HR process produced a 7-year average retention rate.
- 2009 – Second production line was opened using PSIcapture from PSIgen. As a PSIgen solution provider, it made sense to implement the software we support for customers in our facility.
- 2016 – FreeDoc® became a Laserfiche Premier Partner. FreeDoc® performs as the customer’s Records Administrator and managing customer records in the cloud site.
- 2023 – FreeDoc® expanded by adding multiple OPEX scanning systems to the facility.
- As of 2025, FreeDoc® operates a $2.5 million scanning facility with the latest technology for information automation. What started 25-years ago as one effort for one customer has developed into a perfect process for every customer!

Our Process
As a best practice, a records search of digital records is recommended to be the same way as for paper records filed. This captures the character of the document. Going forward this changes. Records that are born digital will be handled differently. FreeDoc® Consultants can help you make the conversion.

Each record then goes through another quality assurance stage, this time to ensure accurate and complete metadata is attached to each record.
Prior to migration, records may be run through optical character recognition to enable full-text content search.
Migration
In migration, each record is uploaded in its complete form to the system specified by the customer.
